Enrichment Classes

Traditional Classes (2 1/2s, 3/4s and 4/5s)

Our traditional preschool classes offer an academic/developmental curriculum which presents both structured and non-structured activities.  These classes provide a wide variety of hands-on learning opportunities through the day.  The curriculum for each age group builds and expands on what is learned in the younger classes while  new themes and concepts are introduced each year. As a Christian school, we also strive to provide a strong foundation in your child’s knowledge of God’s Word.

Friends 'N Fun

This is a preschool sampler for those students that may not be quite ready for a 2½ hour preschool class or students that may not want to commit to a full year of preschool. Friends 'N Fun will be offered on Friday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00 am for ages 3 ½ - 5. You may register your child for the fall session, winter session or both. The class will offer a different focus each semester with themes ranging from drama/theater, imagination/creativity, dance, little patriots, science/nature and art/crafts. The registration and supply fees are waived for this class.

KinderChallenge

Children must have passed an assessment by the teacher or director prior to registering and be at
least 4 ½ years old by September 1st. Students will be asked to recite all letters and sounds or
read from an easy reader. This class is more structured and advanced than our typical 4/5 year old program. The students in this class will review the letter sounds and work on blending skills through December, beginning reading groups in January. Students in this class will also learn basic addition facts. It may be a good choice for the student who is 5 years old by September 1st, ready to read or already reading, but not attending kindergarten.

Enrichment Classes

In addition to our traditional preschool classes, Kingdom Kids also offers enrichment classes. These classes are offered in areas such as music, art, social studies, literature, science and physical education. Enrichment classes are similar to our traditional classes but rather than concentrating on the academic areas of numbers and letters, they instead focus on a curriculum area listed below. Bible is part of the curriculum in each class.

Art
Did you know that scribbling is the beginning of your child's attempt at the written word? Students will explore aspects of art such as line, shape, color, texture, pattern, perspective and much more. This class is focused on the process of art and will allow your student to make original masterpieces. Speaking of masterpieces, students will review masterpieces to see how the artist used aspects of art. Come ready to create!

Creative Adventures
Children 4 ½ - kindergarten may join us one or two afternoons a week for this dynamic new class.  Students will experience and dig into an energizing blend of irresistible games, dramatic experiences, creative crafts, music and imaginative kitchen creations planned just for them.  Activities and experiences will revolve around an exciting new theme or topic each day.

Discovering God’s World (Science & Spanish)
What is a scientist? We will find out in this hand-on class. Students will explore the world around them, focusing each month on a discovery theme such as plants & trees, fossils & rocks or lifecycles. We use music, experiments, outdoor experiences and literature to make science come alive!

J.A.M. (Thematic Exploration)
An intriguing thematic class that provides an energizing blend of dramatic experiences, imaginative crafts and kitchen creations.  Creativity abounds with activities and experiences that are extensions of monthly themes. Think of a traditional preschool class – SUPERSIZED!  We’ll have a jammin’ good time in this class!

Junior Gym
A class sure to burn off some energy this class will focus on increasing gross motor skills while engaging in active play. Coordination, agility and cooperative play are encouraged through varied activities and games.  Children will use parachutes, ribbon streamers, hoops, balance beans, scooters, balls and bean bags in many ways. Portions of this class take place in our large gymnasium.

Mother Goose on the Loose (Literature)
Experience a year full of fun with books! Learning centers teach pre-reading skills and encourage creativity. In Bible time, the students hear the stories Jesus told, the parables. Children learn about the structure of stories - beginning, middle, and end - while following a variety of themes. The themes change each month to include everything from fairy tales to poetry to Dr. Seuss books. Felt boards, puppets, costumes, and BIG imaginations are used by both the teacher and the students to explore each theme thoroughly.

Music
Sing, dance and play along as the basic musical principles of melody, tempo, rhythm, and dynamics are introduced. Students will have fun singing a wide variety of songs, playing musical games and using rhythm instruments. Students will be exposed to a variety of musical instruments and to the sounds of an orchestra. Guest performers will be invited into the classroom and special music programs will be put together for parents.

Young Explorers (Cultural Exploration / Cooking)
Come explore the world and learn about other cultures, people and places as you take a walk through the seven continents of our world! Students will discover what makes each place unique, like the Terra Cotta Army of China and the changing colors of the Taj Majal in India. The traditions, inventions, and culture are explored through group activities, explore time in centers and creating yummy treats for snack.
